Trying to decide

We are a new church and are trying to decide what software we want.

Other than ease of use, the one thing that I am trying to find is the ability to parallel two versions of the Bible.

What programs have the ability to do this?

Thanks so much for you help!!!!

I don't know of any programs that allow you to parallel two versions of the bible as part of the projection software.
I do know that e-sword (www.e-sword.net) which is a donation based program does let you display multiple versions of the bible but it isn't set up for projection.
If you use Media Shout and can find a site that does this on-line, MS allows you to show webpages.

Hmmm...

there is a freebie called Easislides which is set up to do two languages simultaneously.

If you simply pretended the two different versions were two different languages, I would think that it would work.

However, there are not too many versions available in Easislides format.

You might want to check with kbob (are you there?). I know he does English and Spanish at the same time.

actually, we do it by brute force for now-our pastor simply over/unders the scriptures on his ppt slides.

However, we're giving a really hard look at Presentation Manager (PM) as it will allow two different screens to be projected while linked. What we want to do is have the left screen be the Spanish version, and the right screen be the English version.

PM will also allow you to link slides for the different languages (or images, et al) so the Spanish and English versions switch in sync, though you have to manual set that up if I remember correctly.

Easislides will allow you to build an over/under screen, so say English is on top, and Spanish is below. Of course, you end up switching screens a lot more that way, but it will work if you don't have two projectors.

I agree with the other posters. Only way that is done now is brute force.

I am a user of Easy Worship and have done it two ways. One is using Powerpoint and putting the 2 different versions of the scripture on individual slides. Gets tricky when they are wordy sriptures . Font has to be to small.

The other way is I have created a new song and put the two versions of the scriptures in seperate verses. That way Easy Worship would control the font size depending on number of words.

My Standard way of working is I open up my pastors sermon in Word, Load up Powerpoint , Easy Worship and Internet Explorer. As I build my EZW schedule with scriptures I copy the scriptures to Powerpoint. I use the bible versions that are built into EZW that we paid for.

Hope this helps a bit.

Question Thanks!!!!

Thanks everyone for all of the replies.

Who uses Worship LIVE on the board? It seems to have fewer 'bells and whistles' than the others but it does in fact allow you to parallel 2 differnt translations, I just discovered this as I was playing around with the demo.

Just wondering what you all think about WL.

Parallel Bible translations would be relatively easy to do in SongShow Plus, but you'd have to use the SlideShow program. It's not a "one click" solution, but I think it would be fairly easy to do this way: You just create a slide with 2 separate text boxes. From there you just import the Bible verse(s) and translation(s) of your choice into the text boxes. Boom, you're done.

It's not as easy as it would be if SSP had the capability directly to put multiple Bible references on the screen at once, but it would be workable.

We use the OnLine Bible, to which SSP links directly. Grabbing multiple translations is a snap.
