There's nothing wrong with PowerDVD, and you can certainly use it separate from SSP - it's just that SSP's DVD playback feature requires WinDVD.
Correct. Here's a Knowledge Base on that.

SSP only supports WinDVD and nVidia’s NVDVD.

Just run the install program again and check the options you want/need.

Correct. SSP (and the others) just loop the AVI for the motion background. We make our own as well by just saving the footage to AVI (a candle or local waterfall for example).

We have been using SSP for 3 1/2 years are very pleased with it. It is a very powerful, yet easy to use and I believe very intuitive software. Making a program and then running on Sunady morning is quite simple. Plus, as has been mention, V7 is right around the corner with many new features. We use the online bible also, inexpensive and integrates with ease.

SSP 7 DVD Question

I'm a long-time user of SSP (back to version 4). I'm setting up a new installation in our chapel at work and I'm using the February release.

I've installed PowerDVD 8.1 but SSP doesn't recognize a DVD application. Is PowerDVD 8.1 verified to work with SSP v7?

You should head over to www.ssplash.com to check out DVD support in their Knowledgebase article SW020. However, I think there are reports of issues with PowerDVD 8.x.

Having said that, you should probably also make sure that the DVD Support module is properly installed for your SSP setup. If you just install PowerDVD, SSP won't know it's there - from my experience with SSP you need to install (or reinstall) the DVD Support module *after* you install the DVD software.

Roger

P.S. You're not alone: I find myself more than a little confused over what DVD player/version is and is not supported in SSP right now. It doesn't look like the current version of either PowerDVD or WinDVD is supported at this time. What good is that?

Hi dhull and welcome to CMN.

I would try posting the question in the SSP section of this forum:

http://www.churchmedia.net/forums/songshow-plus/

There are some avid users of SSP around here and I'm sure one of them will be able to help you out.

And again, welcome!

"The most you would pay for MediaShout is $929 - $429 retail for the software + $500 for an unlimited site license.
FYI you can get MediaShout 3# for $379 all over the place!
As for your desires MS has all that."
I'm coming in on this kinda late, but what as SKSTARKILLER mentioned is accurate.
Media Shout, in my opinion, is much more beefy than all the other "PC" worship software's. ProPresenter for Mac is a little more, but if running a "PC" than you can't get better than Media Shout.
I do alot of Media Shout training for other churches in the area and never have anyone feel like they can't run this thing.
Some people have never even used Powerpoint.

As far as pricing goes, $889 is the lowest you'll find online for the program plus, but I know of at least 1 company that sells it for a little less if you ask for a discount.

It's possible to change the fonts for each song in EasyWorship (and even change the font within the song.) But some of our volunteers tend to go a bit font-happy at times (and crazy-background happy). I often find myself sneaking in early on Sunday morning and "normalizing" the song service.
