Windows 7 Lag

Have any of you experienced lag issues with Windows 7 Professional 64bit? I'm having some issues with a computer that ran fine for about a month and then started lagging all the time. 10-15 seconds for Office 2010 to open. Stuff like that.

I've had Win 7 64 w/ Office 32-bit for a few weeks and have not noticed any lag. I'll keep an eye out though.

If it was fine, and now it's not, I'd run MalwareBytes and see if you have any nasties.

Been running both on many computers for over quite a few months now without issues. Check your AV to make sure it's working and up to date. Also check your Ram. I've had Ram chips fail and just drop out without any issues except for the fact that the machine gets groggy. I've even heard of cores dropping out in processors.

Run CC Cleaner and a good anti-virus/anti-malware solution. 90+% of the time that will clear it up.

This ended up being a processor issue. It was an AMD processor that had some if it's disabled cores enabled. The disabled ones were unstable. Once I disabled them, everything worked perfectly fine.

There's a reason why those cores are locked.

You will luck out every now and again with a locked core which will return very few errors and be perfectly fine running everyday task. Some turn up so many errors that they are more of a hindrance. I've seen the scale tip in both directions.
