adding 2nd hard drive to new Windows 7 machine

okay, this one has me stumped
I'm trying (and failing) to add a second SATA hard drive to a Windows 7 machine

The 2nd drive appears under the peripherals list when I look in BIOS.
It appears in the list as a hard drive under Windows' Device Manager.
However, Windows 7 doesn't seem to see it.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

The drive may need to be initialized first (if it hasn't already been formatted). Right click on Computer > Manage > Disk Manager

You should see the hard drive listed. It may show as unpartitioned or might ask you to initialize it. You can initialize and partition it as needed from here.

Well, knock me over with a cheese slicer!
It was the obvious.
Thank.

(I had actually looked at Disk Management one time before and nothing showed. But this time it popped right up saying there was a drive that needed to be initialized. I should have known to look again - I tried everything else at least twice!!!)

Gotta love it when the answer is staring you right in the face.

I've been doing my share of fighting with Windows the last few days, replacing the RC of Win7 with a full-up version. I think I've got it pretty much squared away, finally.

I'm very happy with my MacBook - Windows 7 runs great on it.
