I'm also an old DOS guy.. freaks my son and nephew out when I throw up a command prompt and start typing stuff.. like dir/w and watch the screen just scroll.. or even better.. move stuff around..and format.. who remembers writing a batch files to run a menu so you could run a program by typing one or two numers or without changing dir. |
Me! I remember that! I'm not an
old DOS guy, though... I just messed around with it when I was young... (like 12 and less) If only you could do the things you can on Windows in DOS, I'd use it... But, building a TCP/IP stack and using Links is just no fun... and Arachne never worked all that well for me either...
Linux is a lot more fun to mess with people with though... You can spew screenfulls of text with a simple command and make it look like you're doing something super-complex... Then when you get into X-Windows everyone says "Wow, that windows looks weird" and you can say "It's not windows, it's Linux"
