| Wordpress Theme Creation So, we decided to go with WordPress for our church website, for the user-friendly CMS, among other things. Now, I've reached sort of a brick wall, as I know quite a bit of HTML, but when it comes to PHP, I'm just...stuck. I've designed the website to have a repeating background, which I guess isn't a big deal, and a centered logo, with navigation and everything else underneath(obviously). We have no desire/need for a sidebar, and want to make it look as much like a normal website as possible(we want to remove the blog aspects of WordPress and use it strictly for CMS). So, as I seem to be a dummy when it comes to PHP, does anyone happen to have a relatively simple tutorial floating around for creating a WordPress theme from HTML? |

| Rather than building from scratch, you might do better with one of the "flexible" themes that don't require PHP or much HTML work. The Atahualpa theme has over 200 different settings that you can tweak, including turning sidebars on and off for particular types of pages. There is a helpful forum to support users of this theme, and I've used it a number of times. Anything this powerful takes some learning. After you look at the default layout, I recommend you import the "rounded" style, which I prefer for most of the sites I've built with this theme. Lane |
