Streaming with FMLE and recording to MP4 on the same computer...

Does anyone have advice on using the same computer to stream via FMLE and record the same DV input to MP4? I'm streaming our service live to Watershed (Ustream.tv) using Flash Media Live Encoder but I also want to record to MP4 to upload the service to Vimeo. Is it possible to do this on the same machine? If so, what software would you use to record the MP4? Thanks!

First, I don't think it's possible. Second, if it were, I still wouldn't do it. I like to keep my workflow separated between machines. That way, if one machine goes down, the other workflow continues unaffected.

Mark, I had a good feeling that this would be the overwhelming advice. I just need to breakdown and purchase a S-Video splitter. LOL

Wow, all by myself I'm "overwhelming advice". You're not good for my already inflated ego.

I've done something similar. Although, I don't split it. Try using flv-converter.org
to convert the flv file. That takes about 10 - 15 minutes depending on speed of computer. That will create an MP4 to upload to vimeo. Has some great advanced settings to control bitrate. Usually keep it under 4k for vimeo. Using the Vimeo desktop uploader on timer will automatically send to vimeo after it's run through the converter.

I'll check out flv-converter.org. My biggest issue though is the quality of the initial capture in FMLE. The quality is good enough for the live stream but not for Vimeo. But, it's still worth a shot.

If your computer can handle it, run 2 instances of fmle. Run one around 500kbs for streaming (and "save to disc" unchecked) and the other a @ 2500kbs for recording (stream unchecked). Not bad for SD.
This method has worked for me in Windows 7.
