Streamed Playback of Video on Website

In lieu of the expense of a 316 Networks solution, how might we set up a 30-minute sermon video to stream directly on the church web site. Live streaming of the live service isn't needed. Neither do we want to redirect viewers to a separate video site link nor require the file be downloaded. I was told the web host's server shouldn't be an issue (but I'm checking into whether that's a streaming server). We currently have Compressor from Final Cut Studio available for the file prep.

Is this possible with a full-length video sermon?

I usually upload the sermon file as a flash video and then embed it using the Jeroen Wijering's FLV Media Player

Sure thing... if it works for you you could license the player ($30 USD) and send us the other $1670

We take our edited AVI file and use the free Windows Media Encoder to convert the file to a streaming WMV file. Then we FTP that to our webhost and link to it on our website. Works great. You can check one (or more) of the files out at our church website.

(LOL - that's not in the contract) Another example of why "PRO membership" is such a great deal!

Just worth noting what dstatler said. He is the only one who is truly streaming the files by the sounds of it. i.e if someone watches half of the video only half has been downloaded to their computer, everyone else has discussed progressive downloads, i.e the computer starts downloading then plays when it can keep up.

Does WORDpictures "require the file be downloaded" mean they are happy to have the file downloaded but the client/viewer can start watching it progressively or does she want true streaming.

Just thought I would ask, not to be annoying but just in trying to answer the question.

The staff member I work with would like the video to "truly" stream so no download is needed (majority of viewers will have high-speed internet access). The reasoning is that people won't bother to watch if they have to wait on a long download or one with occasional interruptions (though some slight stalls could be tolerable). He also wants play back directly on the web page with other info and not to open a new window with the video only. Also noteworthy - all our video & web set up is MAC so we would need to go Flash versus .wmv.

Thanks!
