Sound meter video?

This may not be the right spot to post this, so if it isn't ...sry. I want to setup up some type of system that i can hook up to the bass drum and makes audio bars move as the background for our songs. I really am wanting to use this for an upcoming youth retreat . Any help or direction on were to go is greatly appreciated.

They wrote a piece of software to convert audio level to midi. Then used MIDI to control a light board. So I am not sure how you would get it to control a background and still be able to get text over it.

This is what they did with the lights a year or two later

sorry about the video quality

THIS SITE has software audio level meters. Some free, some that cost a little. Don't know how they would work with presentation software but you might take a look. Google software audio level meter for more.

There is a program that Herbie Hancock uses for this exact purpose. It's called GForce. It takes any live audio going into a PC and it creates all kinds of patters and stuff on the screen. He uses it for his live shows by projecting it on a mega-sized screen.
