Worship Service Starters

How do you guys and gals start your Worship Services off!

We play a 1 minute video with the lights dimmed to get everyone quiet, to a seat, and focused on what's going on. We use these videos for 2 months a piece.

After that we move into either a special song, the welcome, or a special drama. I'm interested to see how you guys start them off!

We normally have soft worship music playing in the background with an announcement loop running. At the appointed time (normally decided by the worship leader) our band hops up & leads the congregation in a song or more. It's also quite common that we do hand shaking time here as well.

I love the 77-second clip & countdown put forth by Kevin that they do at Prestonwood... oh to have the time & resources & material to put together a 77-second clip each week! It's an excellent idea & I'd love to see a clip as well.

We normally have our band playing for about 15 minutes before the service (just a Christian jam session). We have the announcement slides during this time.

I love the 77 second video idea. I will think about it myself.

We play a contemporary christian music video. They are digitized and easy to add to mediashout. It lets people know worship is getting ready to begin, and for early comers it is entertaining. We have about 20 videos and play a new one each week. We add more every 6 months or so

We have a custom flash countdown that counts down from 5 min. "the service will start in 4:59. 4:58. Then as it fades to black we have a high impact flash intro, much like a website intro. Then straight into the band

Hi Peter, I've been looking to build a flash countdown for our church and seem to stuck somewhere in the action script. Were you the one who built the flahs 5 min countdown for your church, would you be willing to assist me with some questions related to building one ?

We play a keynote announcement presentation that I save as a quicktime file and play in ProPresenter. We have a library of countdown videos of various times, some purchased and some homemade that we show immediately before the band plays. As soon as the timer reaches zero the band hits their first note and jams. We have an awesome worship band.

We start off our services by hosting them emcee style where a one of the leaders of the church will welcome everyone, introduce himself and the church, lead an opening prayer and then introduce the worship team.

We have music playing with a rotation of info/event slides/videos until five minutes before service. We then run a five minute countdown. As often as possible these countdowns are produced weekly with different content. If we're in a jam for time, we will use a Worship Films countdown.

Announcement loop (6-8 slides) and music playing. No countdown as the pastor would never be ready at 0:00.
