My limited experience of Panasonic's gear made me wary of recommending it to all but the most experienced operator - projectors excepted. For example, we recently hired an MX70 and had to crack open the manual just to figure out what we thought should be basic... Not fun. Having said that, it can't be THAT bad - they're fairly popular, and like you said, you have an MX50.

We used a Edirol V440HD, great mixer! The SD/HD dual bus, dual format mixer is good. Probably a bit spendy, but worth the investment if your running to a projector, and graphic quality is important (you can run the mixer at a native resolution of 1024x768, meaning your PC graphics run straight into the board, and straight through to the projector, maximizing graphic quality). Check it out.

I drove an MX50 earlier this week, and it was painful. Slightly less painful than the horrible horrible MX20, but not much, no. It's probably about on par with Chris's MX70 experience. Locking in a frame with that DVE was especially bad. It took a half hour to figure out how the stupid thing worked. Driving that actually made me go back on supporting the V8, until I test drive one and it convinces me that it's good. My go-to recommendation (and I'm the Crazy Analog Guy, so keep that in mind) is the Grass 100. Old, sure, but it's just solid. Everything that was painful to do on that MX50 on Monday night is a breeze on the 100N at my place. My only experience on the SW350 is looking at it on their website now. It seems too compact for me. I'd pick a 100N or 110N over that any day. But again, that's just me.

Thanks Thanks to each of you for responding--I called a friend that is attending NAB as I write this and he is going to check out Pan.'s booth for any info--that said, I do agree about the MX70 and MX50, BUT that's all I've had to work with for several years. I will be looking for the V8 and see what the thoughts are about it. Thanks Again--Peace GraceVideo
