Exclamation Videonics MX-1 Trouble!

For some Reason, We just bought a Videonics MX-1 and we hooked it up but for some reason the transistions start to flash has terrile lin e through them. We've tried switching cable, switching video sources reset all cameras to factory settings, and tried switching the input ports and still no change - I did notice that the Poweroutlet they sent me with the unit is 9Vac and the unit says it uses a 12Vac could that be the only problem I haven't had a chance to try that yet.... Please any help would be appriciated! We'd like to get it running before Sunday.

I'd start there-the adapter is probably wrong. Also, try setting a longer duration for your transitions. Sometimes the videonics don't seem to like really quick transitions. Straight cuts sometimes work better for shorter times, but be careful 'bout that.

MX-1's were inherently buggy. I've owed several and they all eventually had problems like you are describing. Try a different adapter, but don't be surprised if it still gives you trouble. If it does, try to get your money back and put it toward another mixer.

I agree with what the others said, replace the adapter, I have experienced similar when not using the correct adapter.

MX1 Power Supply

The MX-1 has gotten some bad press for not being totally professional, but for the price I can't recommend it too highly! We have 2 of them chained in order to have enough inputs to do live services.

When we got the second one, it came without an OEM power supply. I, too, tried a 9VAC but found it did "flakey" things. Having an original Power Supply on the other unit we knew it needed 12VAC and at least a full amp. I dug around and got an old open-frame transformer, soldered a hefty line to prevent line loss, and attached to the proper plug. All difficulty disappeared! Bottom line... make sure you've got enough power to run the mixer!

Question HELP!

I'm trying to help someone who just purchased this. Here's my question:
Is it possible to change the background image when you are using PIP? The manual is not clear on this. So once you set your PIP image, they want to switch the background between the two other sources. Can this do that?
Also, can you use input 4 for the PIP source, then switch the background image using inputs 1-3?
Thanks so much!!

Red face MX-1 wiggle

The problem that I have is this: the output image has a noticeable wiggle across the top 1/3 of the screen. How can I correct this?

REx, tell us more about your setup.

Does any source show the same output issues?
What are the sources?
Have you tried changing out connection cables?

I must share with you that I would recommend replacing the MX-1 as soon as possible. These units are old, no longer supported by anyone, and a big potential single point of failure in your system.

MX-1 trouble

My set up is as follows; two video cameras as inputs, I am using the RCA output with a splitter to go to a projector and a computer for a live web cast. Everything looks good except the web cast, it has a wiggle at the top of the screen. I checked it on two different computers with the same results.

Thanks,
Rex

When you say "split" the output, are you using a DA (distrabution amp) or an RCA audio "Y" cable? If that, try going direct to the computer to see if the wiggle goes away. Wiggle usually implies a problem with the horizontal frequency.
