wiring for a/v

Have you ever used microphone cable to run audio or video over it? I was looking at some wiring that was done at our church and noticed that this cable was used to send either the audio or video(not sure what the other cable is and couldn't see what input the mic cable was plugged into) to several tv/monitors that were installed in a couple of classrooms.

I too have used XLR mic cables for audio signal. I just built XLR to RCA, 1/4" or 1/8" adapters. Never attempted video signal. The easier solution would have been using standard coaxial cable.

You can't run video over mic cable due to the impedence difference. Video is at 75 Ohms where mic cable is 100 Ohms.

Cat5 Baluns to change unbalanced audio and video over Cat5 or twisted pair, depending on what type of signal and how far you're sending/distributing it, are also an option.
