Using S-Video out or DVI

Our computer is about 8 to 10 years old, but still works good...it has installed a graphics card with 1 vga, 1 s-video, and 1 dvi out...we currently use the vga for the control (main) monitor and I'm debating about which is better to use for projection to the projectors. The projectors have both vga and video inputs. We have both the vga cables and rca cables ran to the projectors, but not s-video. What I want to decide is which is better s-video or using the dvi to vga. If we use the s-video out on the card, we have a switcher that will run s-video in and have output to rca and then we can run the RCA out from that to a RCA distributor that will go to each projector. There are only two supported resolutions for the S-video out, and we are going to be getting flat screens to replace the projectors and we are wanting the picture to stretch the whole screen but not to look all streched out and dumb looking. What's the best way to go, S-video or VGA. To me the S-video to RCA picture quality looks better, but I don't want the picture to look terrible when we get the TVs.

It depends on the projectors and computer, but I'd lean toward dvi-to-vga as the best option.

S-video or Composite will do up to 480 lines of vertical resolution.

VGA is capable of more. With that said, if your computer is outputting 640x480, you might not get a better looking signal. If it's 800x600 or better, you will.

Typically projectors have an optimum resolution. Signals other than that are scan converted down or scaled up to be at that resolution.

If your projector is 1024x768 (for example), it will take the video input and scale it up to match that resolution. The result will look blurry in comparison to a native 1024x768 signal.

My projectors navite resolution is 800 by 600, with that said, which is better? And with us looking into flat screens for replacing the projectors, which is better?
