After Effects video intro

Working on a video for our college ministry. This is the AE intro I'm working on. It doesn't have the song in it that I'm using, but that's okay. I'm going to work on slowing down the camera moves, but any opinions would be helpful.

i think that the titles need to be on for a bit longer. They go by a bit fast.

That said, HOW DID YOU DO THAT?!? I gathered that it involves cameras and 3D space, but everything else I'm totally lost on and I wanna do something like that. Is there a tutorial you followed and/or can you post the AE comp?

In this instance it's ALL about the text, so any thing you can do to make it "pop" more would help a lot. Remember it's about your INFORMATION and not the cool camera moves.

Yeah, I know I need to slow them down. I'm working on that. As for the tutorial, here's the link

Check out Tutorials 82 and 83. They use a plugin that he created called SureTarget. I really like it. Let me know if you have any questions about it.

It has a very smooth celestial feel to it. Do you have a music piece picked out for it yet? Does it have that smooth feel? Make your moves match your music.

I'm not a fan of the font or the type treatment. I think it needs to pop a little bit more. I think if you can get the text to pop from the background you'll see the timing is good.

If you music bed is going to be more aggressive (this is a college ministry right?) I'd make the camera moves quicker instead of 30 frames try 17-20 frames. Then when camera lands on the text either add some wiggle to the camera or some jumps/flicker to the text.

got any ideas how to make the text "pop" more? Maybe I can just find a photoshop tutorial to get it looking better.

The song has a mellow feel to it. It's "Breathe" by Anberlin.
I'm trying to think of a good way to get my message across. Maybe this is the wrong look, I don't know. Thanks for the comments though.

Nice use of suretarget...I love the stuff Andrew puts out! If you want to learn After Effects, thats the place to do it. The font seems pretty generic, maybe a different font would help the text stand out a little more without doing anything drastic.

Just seems to need a font with a bit heavier weight to it, and definitely some more style.

You may also want to try using Color Link on your text layer and link it to your bkg, so that as the camera moves the text color will change some as the overall bkg color shifts. This doesn't need to be a heavy handed use of the plug-in, just enough to give it some subtle change.

Also agree with giving a small amount of wiggle to your camera once it stops at each target.

This is very subtle, but I find the 3rd text statement hovering in the background during the 1st and 2nd to be distracting. Its ok once I've seen a title and it moves in to the background, but to have one sitting in the background "waiting" to come forward keeps distracting my eye away from the text that your wanting me to give my attention to.

Font wise I'd go with a "heavier" sanserif font. Make it mixed case for easiest reading. The style is OK maybe just change the colors of the text to make it pop, try going lighter.

Good call... that's an easy fix by simply keyframing the opacity to bring the layer up as the camera moves in.
