Announcements Video

Well, I lived through it again - and with some great help from fellow CMN'ers, I'm getting along a bit better with Final Cut Pro. Here's our announcements video this week!

I know the sound got away from me at the end, by the time I realized it, I was just flat out of time.

wow-really nicely done! One quick question/suggestion...

when you are scrolling the Bible verse, I'm guessing it's even smoother when you display it on site than it appears in my browser? I've always had trouble with scrolling text looking a bit jerky as it moves, and would love to know how you came up with the right speed...

Again, great work!

Playing4One: We're trying to time it so that one video can be used 2 weeks in a row. It's a horrific amount of work, and I'm still pretty slow at it, being a newbie to video and all.

KBob: The scrolling text looks FLAWLESS in full size. I adjusted the timing on it to follow the voice-over. If there were no voice-over, I think it would need to be a good deal slower.

Scrolling text is a pre-defined text effect in FCP - so I can't take any credit for it! Getting the timing to be close enough to the voice over to look right, however, took more time than you'd think it should.

Thank you both.

Quick question. Where did the background video come from?

Let me see, the video background in the announcement that is linked in the first message is from a Digital Juice ETK Pro Set, should be Ink Scrawl, I love that one.

the other backgrounds at the Vimeo page would be:

#2 & 3 are from a recolored Digital Juice Theme Kit, Heart Fling
#4 I made

background music

Very nice. Is that background music from one of the SoundStacks volumes?

Thanks,
Doug

Doug:

Yes, it's from Digital Juice ... I don't know which video you looked at to tell you which StackTraxx it was from, but if you want me to look it up for any of them, let me know.

Choosing music for announcements was actually much more difficult than I'd have imagined.

The look is nice, but I think some of the content gets a little lost in the shuffle. The open is terrific, but you may consider toning down the split screen to focus on the content of each announcement.

I think you need more obvious and powerful transitions between events to keep them separate.
