Looking for budget camcorder

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. We are looking for a camcorder in the $400 budget range with a microphone input. Our pastor is adamant about buying from Staples for some unknown reason but I'm quickly finding out that probably isn't going to happen. Although you get brownie points if I can find one there Any suggestions?

The only camcorder for near $400 at Staples with a mic input is the Panasonic V700, and that's at $599 (slightly cheaper at B&H at $549).

$400 is very cheap when it comes to camcorders, you'll have a hard time finding anything with additional features at that price point. $500 or $600 is much more reasonable for what you're looking for.

Also, it's probably a bad idea to be set on purchasing from Staples (really any one retailer), as you'll end up with a much smaller selection and not necessarily the best price. Personally, I would never purchase anything but office furniture and office supplies from Staples, you can get better prices elsewhere.

I agree with you there about Staples. I think our pastor just likes their customer service but personally I'd rather buy from TigerDirect or BestBuy. Thanks for the suggestions!
