| Sony EVI-HD1 232 control So, I'm putting in some cameras for a local church and I have two Sony EVI-HD1's and a RM-BR300 joystick to control it all. The first cam is about 10 feet from the controller and works fine. The second is 100 feet from the controller and doesn't. The controller uses rs-232 to control the camera and can communicate at 9600 baud. So that means according to this chart I can send the signal 15 meters (or about 49.2 feet). The problem is that I need to send it about twice that. I have cat5e run from the control location to the install location, but that isn't helping. I can control it at about 10 feet like it's brother, so I know that the controller and camera aren't the issue. This extender from MonoPrice doesn't seem to like these cameras (or I got two bad sets in a row, which I doubt). Sony tells me to get a set of 232 to 422 converters, but wouldn't specify a brand or anything other than saying that the powered ones seemed to work better than the unpowered ones. Here's my question. Does anyone else have a similar set-up and how did you solve the problem? If not, has anyone had a similar problem with 232 and how did you solve it? Paul |
