Difference between Hitatchi and Sony CCU Cable

I know both say they are 26 pin but is the pin layout identical on both the Sony and Hitatchi cables? We had a Sony (no CCU or multipin adapter) given to us and I was hoping it would work out just fine. Wishful thinking perhaps? ha.

I guess the only way to know is to try it. Typically you can't do any damage because your power connections are in the same place.
