Attaching a Hard Disk Recorder

Our church has a couple of Sony HVR-A1U, high definition dv cams, that work very well for what we do. I'd like to upgrade from dv tape to hard drive.

Sony makes a hard drive attachment (HVR-DR60 still available on Ebay), but it's pricey and has mixed reviews.

Are there generic hard drives that can attach to HDV cams to record live? If so, where do I begin looking. It seems like this would be a no brainer for businesses that want to capitalize on folks that don't want to upgrade to new cameras.

Thanks!

Ben
