Hi everybody.

May i ask for a doubt?

Does anyone know if it's possible to use an EVIHD1 with VGA signals. I know than the camera has a Video Output over HD-SDI, HD Analog component(Y/Pb/Pr), VBS, Y/C but i need to use it with an analog VGA switcher, somebody toldme about a kind of configuration or something like that.
What do you think?

Thanks & Regards

Well you have two options really.

You can try to use a regular VGA cable to go from the HD-15 pin to your VGA input however it's a big shot in the dark to see if it will work.

The other option would be to use a true blue scaler. You see VGA signal is a computer resolution and the component signal is TV lines.

You can get a nice quality scaler from Kramer Electronics. The Kramer VP-420 goes for $636.00 and will do the job nicely.

However if you tell me your application I may be able to help more. What switcher are you using and what is it feeding?

Another option if you haven't already purchased the camera is the EVI-HD3V. That has a built in option for VGA. And it's cheaper. HUZZAH!!

I just want to be sure of what you're asking. You say you need to use it with an analog VGA switcher but what is that switcher doing and feeding? You could run YPbPr or the Y/C and/or composite signals on the RGB connections of a VGA switcher and it should switch those signals just fine. And some devices with 'VGA' inputs can be figured for that input to accept different signals on the HD15 inputs. So it may not be a matter of just what the camera outputs but also of the other devices involved and what you are trying to do.

Stuck with EVI-HD1

Hi all,
I'm new to this message board, and am actually with a funeral home. I wish I would've read this thread before I purchased an EVI-HD1, but I did not Needless to say, I would like to get our system up and running with what we've got, and I'm stuck with an EVI-HD1 that I don't know how to use.
Our goal is simply to record funeral services in our 200 occupancy chapel with the one EVI-HD1 camera that we have, to a computer (currently our chapel sound is run from a new Mac Mini), and then we will be burning them to discs for families as well as posting them on our website for people who could not attend services. With the 6 preset positions, we have no need for the $1595 remote unit, but I am stuck on how to bring the best quality video from point A (camera) to point B (computer).
I'd really appreciate any advice I can get from you guys. You seem to really know this stuff, and though B&H has been somewhat helpful, I want to make sure that we're not being sold stuff we don't need. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.
