Kramer VP-729 custom output resolution

Hello all,

Our church just moved into a new building (YAY ) after having service in a community center for 10 months. With our new setup, we are sending a video signal from a computer (analog VGA) thru a Kramer VP-729 scaler / switcher to 2 Sanyo projectors which have a native resolution of 1440x900.

The Kramer has lots of resolutions in it, but not 1440x900. It's possible to program a custom output resolution into the Kramer, but I've not found any info in the manual or online on how to do this CORRECTLY.

Does anyone have any experience with doing this? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

We too, also purchased the VP-729. I do not know the answer to your question.

But We have two Mitsubishi Projectors. FOH is a 5000 lumen and the Rear Wall Confidence/Teleprompter is a 4000 lumen.

Both project in Wide Screen format and it took a lot of playing around to get the images to work well.

I believe our FOH projector had a higher resolution than the rear. What I ended up doing is setting the 729 resolution to 1 step down from 900. dont remember the width setting. If I remember I will take a peak at or settings and get back to you.

What Sanyo projectors have that resolution? That's the oddest projector resolution i've heard in a while. You sure it's not something else? Most manufactures stick to standard resolutions.

You can do custom resolutions on most Kramer switchers but i'll have to see if it is possible on the 729.

To Ebroach - I was able to find a close resolution (nearest 16:10 was 1280x800, I believe), it's just not the native resolution of the projectors.

To Gracetech - not sure of the Sanyo projector model numbers off-hand, but I'm confident that 1440x900 is native to them. They're WXGA. Custom output resolutions are possible on the 729. I've looked at the advanced setup options for it, I just wasn't sure what variables to use, as there were some video terms and options that I wasn't familiar with.

Thanks to both of you for your replies.

I've heard of 1440x900, but it's not WXGA. It's called WXGA+ (see Wikipedia article WSXGA_Wide_XGA+).
