HILLSONG CHURCH TRIPLE SCREEN

Hey guys, does anyone know how the "Triple Screen" that hillsong has at their recent conferences work? what kind of gear is required to do something like this? something similar to the screen setup at hillsong london (google image for preview) Please help me, someone? as I would like to do the whole triple screen thing at my new sanctuary, its like 3screens that can all act as one screen, nd change into 3 seperate screens previewing different things or the outer 2screens showing the same feed and the middle screen something different, just wanted to know what kind of gear/equiptment, software etc is required to do something like this

Thanks

I don't have time to look at how they did there screens but the way i've done it in the past is having a switcher for each projector. I would run ProPresenter and ProVideoPlayer with the Matrox THTG and then you could span or just take a single input(like a camera or DVD player...). You get more than a few options like this and it is visually stunning when you use the right projectors with the right screens.

I have a post some where around the forums about a Jr High camp i did with this setup a year or so ago.

I have wondered the same thing.

Several churches have screens that move around on the stage. Stage right or left and then appears to sit on the floor as one screen.

How do the projectors move??

I know the two huge screens at Willow Creek are LCD screens, not projector screens.

As for the different content on three difference, screens, I'd bet on ProPresenter (et al) and perhaps a Matrox Triplehead to go. It's what all the cool kids are doing.

Here's some examples of what Buckhead has done with ProPresenter. Although I think they use 4 different macs. 3 projecting synced by the 4th.

If you want a single image across all three screens you are looking at Matrox THTG. If you want different inputs on different screens you are looking at a switcher (or switchers). You need Pro Presenter and a computer plus the appropriate cables. I do setups like that from time to time. I am consulting about one right now. It is not that complicated actually to design or install. Moving screens are usually going to be LCD/LED screens.

I'm not sure about the specific one you are talking about, but I know that in the past, the have had LED screens at their conference; very expensive, very bright LED screens. (I think someone told me they ran them at like 60% brightness inside, becuase at 100% the whites would act like blinders)

Anyway, the point is that hillsongs is a church with a truck load of money, so set your expectations at a reasonable level; chances are your not going to be able to do thing quiet the way they do.

But like the others have said, provideo player, or pro presenter would be the way to go, with a triple head to go, then a matrix switchers controlling your projectors.

The question is do you want live video on your screens, or just graphics and prerecorded video? If your not after live video, then something like watchout would be better as it allows you to edge bleed your three screens, which will look nicer!

Sorry I mean one complete screen that can split up and show three different feeds, one full wide screen feed with the with overlaying lyrics, or the outer two thirds showing live feeds with video graphics in the middle third. If you google hillsong london, you have an idea as to what Im looking for.

If you want to do separate feeds then you are going to need a switcher. You are looking at a more expensive and more complicated system. But not that difficult. But you are not going to be able to do that for under $5k (if you are starting from scratch). In fact I would budget $10k to start (or more depending on screen size, ambient light in the room, throw distance, and other considerations.

For the benifit of this thread, here is a photo of what the OP is trying to do.

Thanks for the explaination; To do something like this, I'm thinking your going to need two computers, plus a matrix switcher, and a video switcher for your live video.

The layout is something like this. One computer with pro video play feeds into a Triplehead2go, which give you your ultra wide, across all screens playback.

Second computer, with dual head to go; one feed with lyrics and black background feeds into live switcher (or decklink card and alpha key module) then the second output is graphics, which feeds the middle screen via the matrix switcher.

Obviously live switcher is for switching your cameras, and overlaying your lyrics onto the outer screens. All inputs go to matrix switcher.

There could be an easier way to this; thatwas just my quick intial thought.

Rarely did we overlay lyrics on live video at most of the events i've done. With Propresenter you can either span lyrics or have the lyrics on the inside screen or just on the out side screens. So for example you could have IMag in the center stradled by lyrics and motion on the out side screens. Or, you could have IMag on the outside screens straddling Lyrics and motion on the center screen. Even if you wanted to specially format a song or two you could have IMag to either side and lyrics spanning across two panels.

Endless possibilities with the right setup.

crt

BTW you can call RoseBrand, Dazian, Draper, or Stewart and many others to get a RP to hang on truss in any size you want. Most projection screens companies are happy to do custom screen sizes. BTWbtw RP= Rear Projection. The setup is highly difficult to do front projection because of the precises placement of the projectors.
