| Multiple computers and projectors I have 2 computers, DVD player, and VCR. Both the DVD and VCR have converters that convert them to VGA. I have VGA cables to both of my projectors. What i am looking for is a device that i can bring the 4 signles into, and be able to view one device on one projector and a different device on the other projector |

| Decent, seamless matrix switchers cost a lot of money (well they do in the rip off UK anyway). Think about what you need to do, then solve that problem. We drive both of our projectors from a common VGA signal - split into 2 by a buffer amplifier part way down the church. We also feed a conventional composite video signal to both projectors as well. We have a fairly smart RS232 control unit on our PC which allows us to select the video source to display on either projector - or freeze whatever video image is on there. We also have a third projector and screen for our overflow areas that we can control separately. A small (relatively cheap) vision mixer allows us to mix our video sources from the computers and other video sources into the VGA feed into the projectors. You haven't got infinite flexibility with this solution (as you would with a matrix switcher) but I believe it is much more cost effective. We can put up two different images on our two front projectors using this method - but one has to be sourced from the composite video and the other via VGA. Alternatively, we can put up the words from a scripture or song on one projector, freeze it using the RS232 remote control and then put up a moving video source on the other projector. To be honest, we have never had to resort to this way of working. So, write down your expected requirements and design a system around those - that will save you spending money on equipment and features you will rarely use. |

| The Video Genie DS1 is a matrix switcher that would do the job. This is the same matrix switcher/scaler that we are providing to CMN for the Orlando convention next month. This system would also let you preview the signals in the booth before sending them to the projectors. You are looking at a total cost of about US$1,400 to realize this function.
