| 1st Timothy 2 (tough subject) Ouch, my pastor is taking on 1st timothy 2:9-15 this week. It's Pauls letter describing how a woman should dress, behave and submit. The sermon title is something like "God's vision for a Godly Woman" I am drawing a total blank with what to do with this. Any suggestions to get me started?

| In a Bible Church? You've got to be kidding. By the way, I just got a revised version of the title. It's now "God's Message to Godly Women" Does that help at all?

![]() I think you need to work with your pastor more closely on this one, and figure out exactly where he's going with it, lest you step in something. You could write (and people have) whole books about what Paul wrote and what we think he meant. But the main things I would keep in mind (my theology mode on) are the two greatest commandments: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 38 This is the greatest and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." (Matthew 22). And that unless you live by the entire bible literally (got kosher? ), you can't begin to take any part of it in isolation and apply meaning to it by itself -- it's all part of a greater whole.(/my theology mode off)Now, having not answered your question, I'll shut my mouth before I step in something ![]() |

| We did a message on Women awhile back (the message on men was the next week!!). For both the message on men and women it was something about BECOMING a man or woman of God. My wonderful brother, nathandiehl, created a really cool background for those. He had some stock background to start. Then he put a big face of a woman covering up most of the right side... but all the way from top to bottom. At first the face was REALLY faded out and you could hardly see it... but with every slide change, the face was slightly less faded. By the end it was almost full... and then the final title slide was full at 100%. It really portryed the BECOMING part of the message. nathandiehl still might have it??? Maybe you can PM him. I would just walk down the hallway and ask him, but its afterhours right now and he went home ![]() |

| A good song for you to use is "Charm is Deceitful" by Kim Hill on her "Talk About Life" album. It is taken from Proverbs 31- "..charm is deceitful, beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord shall be praised." verse 2 is really powerful- "...and i know that when He sees me it won't be beauty that He longs to hold it"ll be the love that He finds inside my heart" A quiet contemplative guitar piece-and it is very short-only 2:22-so it can get you in and out fairly quickly. |

| What? Nothing about women and pants? I thought he was trying to get them lady folks fired up or something? ![]() This subject is something that should always be taken in a tactful manner because men often get immediately tuned out by the ladies. It seems like we're getting the better of the deal when in reality we're very much on equal ground. We have just been given different roles to play. Not everyone's an ear or an eye... so on and so forth... I'd say a light hearted approach to this is the best. If it becomes anything close to "the Bible tells you women to shuddap, get in the kitchen and make me a sandwich" then you've lost them before the pastor can say a word. |

| I got this letter from him this morning: Sorry I didn't get this information to you. I've been working on this message while on vacation and get back in the office tomorrow. I'm wanting to start the message by having everyone together read Psalm 119:105 and then comparing God's word to the blueprints, or building plans that are being used in the construction going on. What I'm wanting to show is that when the designer has a plan, whether it makes sense to us or not and whether we like it or not, we go along with the plan. The roles of men and women are a part of this. Maybe a construction or blueprint theme for the title slide with the verse next and then back to the title slide? See, you won't have to call in sick. ![]() Thanks, Mark, for your conscientious attitude and energy to follow through. Lee I've upload my attmept to the MXC, what do you think? http://www.churchmedia.net/MXC/showp...hp?photo=11023
