Children storys.

My pastor asked me to give a five minute short story to the children before he released them to Sunday school.

I stated that I had no pastoring skills and that I have concerns of stating something incorrectly and it is a big responsibility, perhaps more then my tasks for the full duration of the service as the sound person

But persistence is not his weak point (nor his wife ) and this winter I accepted to do it. Both feel I have a knack for story telling and that I can get my point of view across with on target humor.

If any of you could guide me a bit , point the way or your concepts.

My outline is fairly simple, as I see it now.

1. Make them feel important as they are the heartbeat and future footsteps of the church.

2. Humor and I do love a play on words.

3. Starting to use "Five minute sermons for children" by Carson-Dellosa Pub Co.

4. Relate it to their day to day problems, school, home choir's, getting along with others etc.

I really want to do the best I can and your input it valued.
Thank you for your reply. John

Add in some prayer and it sounds like you have a plan.

Thank you Joseph

You inspired me on my next story and I will give them "The Lords Prayer", have a new printer and what could be a better use for it. I will give each new youngster one as they attend the service.

Also a good topic for follow up in coming weeks. Prayer actually brought me here to this forum, and Jesus has never lead me astray....actualyeeee Joseph didn't either. Thanks again...John

Don't talk down to them. Treat them with respect.

character studies using animals

my pastor uses animals to show how God provides an animal with the ability to protect themselves and how they are used in God's creation and then applies it to them (briefly). The adults enjoy this as much as the kids --- he uses graphics with pics of the animals
