Color temp difference - movers vs conventionals

I design the lights for a local church for their musical they do once a year. This is mostly an activity/social event for the youth group. In the past this has been lit completely with conventionals. We are talking 20-30 source four and pars on portable stands in sanctuary typ of lighting. This year I am looking at the possibility of adding a couple of moving head spots (Studio Spot 575) to mostly be used as adjustable specials. (These will be from a front of house position). When I look at our power and rental budgets its pretty much a wash between the conventionals and movers. However I could use the movers for a lot more. Also they are more fun.

I am concerned about the color temerature difference. I can dim the movers, but will they just always look blinding blue? I used a similar setup back in college, but can't remember what I though of it. I am interested on comments or suggestions. Thank you.

Most movers have a CTO filter. It isn't the best, but it helps.

Some spots have CMY filters that allow you to adjust color temp.

I am always lothe to use moving lights as roving specials. But that is a personal preference.

You might be able to use an amber gel to knock the blue down.

Amber gel in a moving light?

I guess you could take it to the snoot. But that seems a bit....... Southern Engineered.

I've many times taped gel to the front of a followspot. Usually, but not always, to bring the spot up to arc blue where I often want it. Once in an attempt to knock down the intensity of a pair of Xenon Super Troupers.

I have done that with the small cheapo follow spots. But I have never put gel on a moving light or a followspot like a trouper (which usually has a series of gel frames).

Yeah, that is the polite term my mother invented to replace another not so polite term from the south.
