I would suspect that the Altinex DAFPI100 is not putting out enough sync level for your projector, OR, something happened to the projector VGA input or the VGA cable going to the projector input.

Sounds to me like a sync related issue.

Thanks for all the suggestions and help. I'm going to get a powered splitter and see what happens. I may still have to put up scaffolding, but it's worth $40 to see.

I can't find anything on the specific device but for Distribution Amps "equalized" normally means having an equalization curve incorporated to compensate for the greater high frequency loss that occurs over longer cable runs. In the broadcast world DAs may have adjustable EQ or selectable EQ based on the cable length and cable type, in many AV products it is simply a defined response compensation curve for some assumed generic loss. If there is adjustable EQ for the projector output on the existing DA then that may be something to try adjusting.

I realize that you say nothing has changed but one thing to check would also be the resolution and scan rate of the computer, somebody could have easily changed that to something to which the projector has trouble syncing.

I agree that it could also be an issue at the connection at the projector as that would then affect only the projector and would follow it regardless of where you connected the other end.

Ah. That makes sense. Thanks for the clarification!

Each of the two "equalized" outs have a small adjustment screw on the front that supposedly adjust the RGB somehow. I've tried turning them, but couldn't see any difference in the projected image. Those two little screws must be why the unit costs 10x the powered splitter cost.

Analog video will experience chroma loss (color loss) before luminance loss (brightness / contrast). The EQ pots are to boost the chroma making up for a longish cable run and the likely chroma loss which will occur.
