cell phone/pda

My cell phone contract is up for renewal and I am thinking of purchasing a cingular 8125 cell phone/pda. Does anyone have any experience with this baby? I went and tried one out today and like the mini keyboard feature as well as the fact that it has wireless internet built into it. I would appreciate anyone elses experience with this or similar devices.

Thx
Bob

I don't have one, but I believe that is the one a friend of mine has and he seemed to be pretty pleased with it. He bought it because of the built in wi-fi.

My brother has it (Technical Director for a church of about 2000) and so do all the pastors of the church. They all love it, and they talk to each other on it all the time and email and instant messaeg and everything. They all love it. Great Phone

heavenly vision

I have gotten similar reactions to others i have talked to. I too like the idea of a built in wireless connection. Sitting back watching tv in my living room while surfing the internet in my recliner. Now if that is not a snap shot of heaven for us geeks. lol

I have one... Actually it's the T-Mobile version the MDA. It's great!! I have it working to view our Church's streaming webcast, and to control SongShow via VNC (which is a freeware program similar to pcanywhere). My only complaint is I lost the two styli that came with it, not because they fell out, but because I leave them around haha. It's an excelent phone PDA. One problem that you should be aware of in advance though is that if you completely discharge the battery it can't be charged from a USB port until it has been charged to atleast a slight charge from the wall charger. This has something to do with the internal power circuit needs an amp or so to start charging but a usb port only puts out about half an amp max.

Have you been with Cingular with the last contract? I've had a Cingular account for about 3 years now and by the grace of God haven't had to replace my phone. Cingular offers huge rebates on phones for you to upgrade to. They're offering me 75% off a Siemens SX66 refurb ($50 total) and $250 off a Palm Treo 650 refurb ($150 total) Has anyone used either of these? The Siemens looks too good to be true at $50, or $200 retail, for that matter. The 8125 only gives me a $50 mail in rebate and comes out to $300, so I don't really want that one. (I'm really hard on these!) Is it Verizon that has the GPS phone? That would come in handy...

I've been eyeing that Treo 650 myself. That's a Palm OS device rather than a Windows Mobile device.

I've heard that the 650 was a good improvement over the 600.
