Interesting how things disappear at SP

Apparently someone over at the Sunday Plus board is deleting anything that references the fact that there has not been an update to Sunday Plus and some folks are getting tired of waiting.

Can they do that over here?

It's somewhat of a touchy subject here, but we generally don't delete gripes or venting as long as it's civil. It can be delicate with SP because I'm personal friends with Lou and I've known him for many, many years. He has a great heart and I love him dearly as my brother in Christ. Still, CMN doesn't give preferential treatment -- not even to our advertisers. This is an open forum for all types of discussions. You just have to keep our golden rule in mind when posting -- "It's not what you say, it's how you say it".

What happened was someone had posted a request for any information about if and when there would be an update to Sunday Plus. He was having problems with the church leaders asking why he was still using SP when there were other programs out there with more capabilities. James Horsley posted a link to a posting that Lou put telling us about where things were with the upgrade. I posted about feeling his pain with some things that I was going through to meet the needs of my Minister of Music.

With out any fanfare that whole section disappeared. Lou has said that he was going to find out what happened and make sure that it does not happen again.

Sunday night, I had to defend why we have not left SP for either program 'A' or program 'B'.

Hopefully in the very near future something will come out of Grass Roots. They have lost some long time supporters and heavy users to other programs for the same reason. From what I have been told by some others ( who have also gone on) most all apparently have gone away quietly, though a few have said good bye.

Since we are still with GRS, I hope that SP 3 will be the Oh wow, drop your mouth wide open program that SP 2.X was when it came out. And I hope that it will be soon, very soon.

David:

I'm not a SP user, but if you had to switch, it'd take a good deal of training time for everyone who touches it. That alone, is a huge reason to stay with specific software, if there's an update coming along in even 6 months.

Perhaps you could meet with your superiors and work out a plan of how long it makes sense for your church to wait for them to come out with an upgrade. That might make it a little more like a compromise, and take the heat off of you for that interim period.

What other capabilities are you wanting to use? I love Sunday Plus, but I am in a 150 Sunday Morning church. I dont think I have ran into some of these other issues

The biggest thing is the DVD playback inside SP.

My Minister of Music is starting to use DVD tracks fro some services and it would be nice to be able to point, click and go like the other cues.

Just for some info on the originiation of the post. Upon further checking, none of the moderators have deleted anything on that forum.. Still trying to track down the poster of the comment that disappeared to ask him if he/she deleted it themselves which very well could explain further comments to have disappeared if they were in response to the original post. Just didn't think this just needed to hang out here with no answer at all.

From Lou himself..

While we wait for more information, let me say that it has been rare, and only when something is offensive to members of the group that we, as a rule, take out a post. We don't pull down posts because you have expressed disappointment with the company. (As you can see throughout the discussions here...)

So I believe it's a mistake.

If we can't get to the bottom of it, and if you think it important enough, could you repost?

Sorry for the trouble.

Lou

my take on this whole thing is that if they were going to pul every negative comment, 90% of what has been posted there in the last year would be gone, but it's not

that being said, I am rooting for them to get their act together.
