A leko or ERS is a light that has a very sharp edge to the beam. Also, due to the assembly of lenses, it can cast shadows with sharp edges like the sun. There are just a few LED lekos made but they are realllllly expensive. There are LED movers that can do a gobo as well.

Really wide angle beams (+45deg) are hallmarks of fresnel, scoop and cyclorama fixtures. Frost gels can expand the beam of most lights. I'm a big fan of "silk" gels such as Rosco 104 that spreads a beam sideways but not up and down. Check it out, it's hard to describe but very handy for lighting a background.

thanks - this was what i was thinking of in terms of an led fixture which would allow me to use my own gobo -

ps i found dual rotating gobos but i think i will just not bother with the dual gobo effect for the time being -- i think they were for lekos only and one is a bit out of my budget ( i think it's a very reasonable 450 but i suppose the lamp and the gobos themselves and a dmx dimmer would go on to that )

edit forgot the link http://www.thomann.de/gb/stairville_...oving_head.htm
