| Fixed Frame Screen Hi everyone- We are upgrading our projection system and looking to add some screen. Right now we have used the screen goo paint on the wall. Upgrading the projectors from 2700 lumens to 6000! sweet! so: I am looking for 2 150" diagonal screens- fixed frame. Any recommends or type of fabric to use/stay away from? I like the ones with a black frame around them and these will be mounted permanently on the wall? Any help appreciated! Brian |

| Regarding the "black frame around the image" request, a really good screen surface I have used and had good experiences with is Draper. http://www.draperinc.com/ProjectionS...asp?detail=260 IF you are also shooting video (using cameras) and IF the projection screens wind up in the camera shots, I would suggest against DIY solutions. It is difficult to balance stage lighting with projection (in camera shots) and having the brightest reflective image and best contrast on the screen will certainly help.

As far as manufacturers, Da-Lite, Draper, Harkness Hall, Hurley, Stewart Filmscreen and Vutec are some of the more common manufacturers for fixed front and/or rear projection screens. Just FYI, nominal diagonal dimensions alone may not be the best way to describe the size of a projection screen as there are now multiple common formats (1:1, 4:3, 15:9, 16:10, 16:9, 2.35:1, etc.) that would result in different heights and widths for the same diagonal dimension. Also, the change in preceived brightness is a bit like the change in perceived loudness in that doubling the projector output should result in a readily noticeable increase in the image brightness but it may not be perceived as being twice as bright. However, if you are replacing an existing projector with an older lamp then the combination of greater projector output, different optics and a new lamp can often make a significant difference. |

| i got two fixed frame screens from htdepot.com and, while they were a bit hard to assemble (had to scrape excess velvet from the corners to get them fit exactly), once they were together and mounted, they look great. and they were by far the cheapest fixed frame screens I could find in the size I needed (~120" diagonal 4:3). See pictures here. |
