There are many fabrics or flexible materials that can potentially be used for rear projection, including some made specifically for that purpose and others that support it to varying degreees. Can you be a little more specific about what you are trying to do and the application involved?

Are you wanting a rear screen as in the rear of the room, or a rear projection screen where the projector is behind the screen?

If it's an RPS you are looking for then give Rose Brand a call they have quite a few Rear Projection materials that you can have cut and even grommeted to your liking.

Spandex is a pretty amazing substitute. Bang for the buck it is great.

I can't tell from your original post if your were going for rear projection. Spandex is barely ok for RP but still a good temp solution for rear projecting scenery.

As for front projection I have done A/B comparisons and the color matching is really close to a professional screen. The viewing angle is slightly less but still very acceptable.
