Changing Lights/gels

Have been looking for one of those 1 man lifts
that can be used to move about the church
to change light bulbs, adjust light fixtures and
change gels.

Can you point me in a direction.

Ceiling height is about 22'. Light fixtures will be hanging down
around the 16-18 ft high mark.

Also make sure you get one that works with the type of flooring you have. I know of a church that purchased a hard surfaces scissor lift, but their venue has a carpet floor, so they have to build a plywood road for it when they move it around the building.

Is this something you'd be using often enough to justify purchasing, or would renting be better? Genie makes a variety of lifts, including some nice-looking self-propelled electric models here. But those run $10K+ new, I think. According to their web site, both Carolina Tractor and Tri Lift NC are dealers in Greensboro. As is United Rentals, where you could probably rent one for a lot less.

Yeah, look at your cut off and see how long it would take you to pay for it. For most churches it is just not worth it. Also make sure you have access to get it to where you would need it or you might need an articulating boom lift.

Thanks but these are heavy duty lifts.

I have seen one somewhere that was run off a air compressor and could
roll away in a closet.

The Genie AWPs and scissor lifts are what I know. I also know in college we had a cheap model Rhino lift that stayed broken more than not. I heard it's been retired now finally. If I had to buy a lift (and had money to buy a lift), it'd probably be a Genie. They just work.

Maybe you should look into scaff then?

We bought scaffolding but that takes a while and work to set up. Then we purchased a Little Giant Ladder Skyscrapter ladder. It reaches almost everywhere except the peak of the ceiling, then we use the scaffolding. It works great for readjusting our stage lights and projector http://www.littlegiantladder.com/lit...kyscraper.html
