Maybe there's a post quota you have to reach first? don't know.

There is a post length to footer ratio that must be reached, I believe. That is overridden for Admins and such and now, evidently, Biz members.

Although, I would have thought that your first message, above, would have been long enough to include your 1 line footer.

Hopefully, an admin that has some real power (and memory) will drop by and clarify.

Shayward, thanks for the help. I think I'll go with a Moxa unit at each projector & then put an inexpensive router at FOH to connect them all. As tempting as it is to try the db9 onto cat5 idea, I'd rather go ahead & get something that I know is going to work without worrying about climbing up & down a ladder to each projector multiple times experimenting...I do wish I'd found out about this 4 years ago before we built the sanctuary though . I'll look into the other software from NdEd you mentioned. I remember seeing a screen cap of it somewhere on here.

Thanks again & God bless!!
Please note that not all projector software can use TCP/IP Sockets for communications. You would be issuing commands in a terminal program such as HyperTerminal.

But the Moxa devices do come with a Virtual COM port software so that your computer uses a remote Moxa device's RS232 port as if it was on your own computer. So, for example, COM7 and COM8 on your projection computer could be the RS232 ports on the two Moxa NPorts.

It's pretty cool

Great idea! I have move posts from both threads to
Controlling 50 to 55 projectors and plasma tvs

Thanks, Joel

Although Post #7 on the new thread did actually belong to this thread rather than the one for Babson

Thanks. This forking and moving of threads can get tricky.

Thanks. I had forgotten about that requirement.

I quickly browsed the thread and didn't see anything like this, so how bout a slightly different solution? I've used SP Controls Pixie quite a bit because of it's simplicity and price point. Here's a link to a vendor that carries the basic unit for $190.

Other manufacturers like Extron, etc make similar units, but at a higher price point and more features.

It's IR replacement. Easily programmed. Controls power, source, and volume. Uses standard install mic wire. I use West Penn 291. 2 conductor, 22 gauge with ground/shield. Mounts in a single gang box. Can control multiple identical projectors, or just get a 2nd unit for independent control of like or unlike units.
