Computer

What model no are the projectors?

You can probably download the manual from sony's website, which should then tell you how to set/control the network settings.

As people have suggested, you won't get anywhere having them both connected and turned on at once whilst they share a common IP address. Once there is only one turned on, you should be able to get to its IP address in Internet Explorer (or other browser) assuming your PC is on the same subnet. If it isn't, you'll need to temporarily move it to the subnet manually, then move it back when you've finished.

I'll have to end up doing that, but I have to use a lift to get to the projectors. Plus, clear out all of the chairs and that wont be done til this summer. And, since I'm not "certified" to use the lift, I can't be the one to do it.

When somebody gets up their, I'll have them connect a crossover cable to a laptop and I'll use Windows RDP to configure it. I can't wait to get the thing working.

I would be certified, but the church thinks that a 16 year old is too much of a liability problem.

Sorry cw4u, I'm not sure if I'm missing something.

Do you not have individual control (on/off) of each projector using the remote? Or do you only have one remote which automatically controls both projectors simultaneously? Are the projectors low enough that you can hold a lump of cardboard on a pole in front of one of the IR senders, thus preventing one of the projectors from turning on when you press the remote control.

Are both projectors plugged into the same powerline? Or both IR senders?

I'm just thinking there's got to be some way you can isolate the power status of one of those projectors without using the lift, whether it be blocking/disabling the IR signal, or individually isolating the mains power to one of the projectors, or...

I gotta admit, I can see why a 16 yr old might not be allowed to use the lifts, although I'm sure I'd have loved to operate them when I was that age, way back 8 years ago... if we had any.

Peter.

You might want to download Sony's PJNet program... this is an application designed to allow control of multiple projectors from a single location...

HERE is a link to some downloadable Sony projector applications...

Enjoy!

The projectors are turned on by one remote that is pushed through a IR blaster that is broadcast to both projectors simultaneously. I can turn a projector by itself without the other one turning on by going on the stage and pointing the remote at the front IR receiver. Our projectors have both front and rear IR receivers.

And the projectors are by no means low enough for me to get to. Their probably at least 30 feet in the air. I'll try and take a picture tonight so you can see what I'm talking about.

I tried the PJ Net software but it didn't work out properly. Maybe I'll try it again tonight. We have all of our Cat5 going into a patch panel, so I might plug my computer directly into one of the projectors lines.

Hi Derek,

Sorry for not responding - I missed your reply coming into my email.

Have you got any further with this? If not:

We've ascertained you can manually turn one projector on at once, leaving the other off, by using the remote. When you've done that, you should be able to go to your computer, type the default IP address into Internet Explorer, and be connected. No crossover cable or climbing up to the projectors needed.

Have you tried that yet?

Also, can you give us the model number of the projector then we can glance through a manual?

Cheers,

Peter

What model projector do you have? The instruction for set up should be in the manual and I would guess you should be able to change the address using the projectors remote...but I'd have to look at the manual to see how.

I'll have to look into it sometime in July. I've been readjusting our 100 stage lights in the sanctuary this week and haven't even thought about those projectors yet. And, next week I'm off to Kansas City for Skills USA competition in Computer Maintainance, but I'll try and keep y'all posted on this.

Thanks guys.

If it'll pay for my college, plus get me a job, I'm all for it. It's pretty fun though. But can be stressing when they give you an error to fix that you've never seen before. Plus, I'll be taking my A+ exam for FREE!!!

It's an all around good thing.
