I just really like how my buddy has his app. running out of the system tray and it can control up to 4 of the same projectors at a time through serial. When did the hotkeys get added?

BTW welcome to CMN!

One thing I forgot. In a Mulit-Projector setup with my software, the projectors can be any make or model and any control mode. In other words, you could have two projectors on COMM-1 (projectors that have IDs, many don't) one on COMM-6, and three more on IP connections, etc. Any combination of connections and models.

As its common for people to use an RS232 adapter on a USB cable, rule of thumb tends to be lower on the length of the run.

The RS242 spec suggests that one does not exceed 50 feet. I think you may be thinking of RS422/485 - which supports up to 4000 feet (which may be what that projector uses, but we were talking about RS232 )
What do you mean by 'an RS232 adapter on a USB cable'? That may be the source of your distance problem. I use h t t p: //w w w . allkindscable . c o m/wespen291com . html (won't let me post a URL) with the correct connector on each end.

No my version of Projector Pilot has no hotkey functions. Is the Hotkeys something you have to program in when your entering in the Projector control data?

And what i'm saying about my buddies software is that i like how it's in the system tray unless you need to tweak something major. It would be extremely cool if Projector Pilot could do the same thing. That's what i would like, Projector Pilot to load into the System Tray and have a few right click option for turning on and off projectors as well as freze and change source and then for all the other functions to open a control panel and adjust keystone, brightness...

If it helps i i'll send you my buddies application today so you can see what i'm talking about. I'm not saying my buddy can program better by any means just i like the interface which i'm you can feel free to use.

Projector Pilot is custom. You have to request which hotkey will do which function. One person will ask for F1 to be Video input and the next person may ask for F1 to be Power off. On the basic model, there are no hotkeys. You have to request them. There is no way to guess what features a person will want their Projector Pilot to do via the hotkeys, if any.

I guess they forgot to tell me that when i ordered my version. They need to have a list of options available somewhere. You don't happen to have one of those already do you?

NEC VT700 PC Controls

I'm new to this forum. I just installed a NEC VT700 and need help w/
PC Control. I am too far away for the IR remote and didn't know anything about an IR extender until I read it here. But...I am wired for PC control
and would like to get some help w/ control. The 700 has a mini DIN 6 pin
connector. I went from that to a DB/9 cable for 150 ft. then to USB to the computer. NEC does not have a download available for this projector but
does have all the codes for control functions.........problem is.......
I know NOTHING about how to enter codes make a program or anytrhing
more complex than downloading software. HELP !!!!!!

That's where Projector Pilot comes in handy. They can set you up with the interconnects you need and can custom program their software to work with your computer.

BTW: Welcome to CMN!

The software can do ANY feature of the protocol via hotkeys. If you are asking what is in the protocol, I could get that for you.

You could purchase the program that does that (Projector Pilot) from Projector People. It is a great value!! Well, I am biased.

I needed to connect the serial cable from the PC to the Sharp XR-10X-L projector at church because the remote is out of range. I am having trouble figuring out hyperterminal commands nothing seems to match right and it is getting frustrating, Sharp just says to use hyperterminal but not what codes to use that make any sense and I am not that well versed in hyperterminal. any help would be great

I just downloaded the manual. Pages 56-59 tell you what you can do with it in hyperterminal.

For example:

POWR<SPACE><SPACE><SPACE>0<ENTER> will turn it off
POWR<SPACE><SPACE><SPACE>1<ENTER> will turn it on
IRGB<SPACE><SPACE><SPACE>1<ENTER> will set the current input to RGB1

Controlling a projector over RS232 is cool

I'm gonna have to figure out how to do this for some old projectors in our Kids auditorium. A couple of Dukane's and an old Sharp. I've been blessed with Crestron Systems elsewhere, so someone did all the hard work for me!
