Need a Waterless Waterfall

Hi, All -

This is my first post on this forum.

We are a small church with a very small stage: 15 ft wide and 12 feet deep, no overhead rigging. You can see a picture of our stage here:

http://www.unityway.com/index_files/Page956.htm

Our minister has been using references to a waterfall in her lessons lately, and I would like to make some sort of waterfall illusion. As the stage is carpeted and we don't have any way to get water to and from the stage, I would like to avoid water.

I was thinking about some sort of cloth that would not show when unlit, look shiny when lit and wave when a small fan blows air down it, but I don't know what cloth to use for this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

If you want to do it with lighting, you could get a couple of lekos with GAM twinspins and some color and be able to do what you want. If you go toGAM, you can click on "Recipe Book" on the left hand side. Then click on Twinspin and then WATER. You can watch a video of what the different combinations look like.

Seeing as you're in Vista, you could contact San Diego Stage and Lighting for more information.

Hope it helps.

How about a video clip that you can turn on and off at will?

I would use one, but unfortunately, it won't get purchased until next year.
Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the idea. The Twinspin is a bit out of our price range, but I might be able to cobble up something in the same vane.

Couldn't everybody just create a waterfall by thinking there's one there?

Touche' Sometimes that is the way our budget feels. We are in the middle of a, for us, huge upgrade of our sanctuary. We are replacing all of our chairs, complete redecoration, moving our bookstore to a larger area, and a bunch more. Because of this work, our video projection system is going to get delayed a year unless one of our members suddenly feels very generous. Then again, you never know how God is going to handle things......

We have a little church as well. For VBS one year we wanted a waterfall, we used that clear wrapping paper (can't remember what it is called, most paper stores will have it), blue, a small fan, add some rocks and plants and a audio loop of a waterfall.
Worked great!

For $60.00 you can get one of these:

It should give you the effect you are looking for.

This is what I was originally thinking about. I hadn't thought about using clear wrapping paper. Good idea. Thanks!

This is interesting. I will have to research it further. Thanks for pointing it out.
