I have been tasked with putting together a proposal for a computer to run MediaShout. The only unknown is the video card. The operator display will be a new display, so it can be DVI, HDMI, or DisplayPort. The projectors are VGA today, but in the next six months will be upgraded to multiple HD displays, from 32in to 60in. I figure any modern video card will have the performance. The only 2 questions I have are: Q1: Which is the least expensive card that does not have VGA, but has a port that can be converted to VGA? Q2: when we go to HD displays, what is the best cable type to use? I am assuming HDMI. Sam

Budget and Possible Solution. Hi Sam, There are several great video cards out there. What budget do you have to work with. We recently installed two new HD Projectors in our sanctuary. Because they are close to 100ft from the media center we ran them over Cat6 and then put a HDMI Amplified converter on the cat6 and converted it to a single HDMI cable to runs out of the laptop. Its worked great. Blessings, Gary

ASUS ENGT430/DI/1GD3(LP) GeForce GT 430 (Fermi) 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card available from New Egg. Item #: N82E16814121397 If you are looking for good performace and low cost the above card works great. Mediashout is partial to the Nvidia chipset on this card and it has plenty of power to do the job without going in to an overkill configuration. We have used this card to drive our projectors for a year and a half with no issues whatsoever. I also did a build for another church using Pro Presenter and it worked equally well there.
