Live video with lower thirds

Ok so I changed churches and am wanting to use pro presenter at my new church. They already have the software with a site license. I want to use the live video function but i want to put lower thirds over it. I will be using a camera connected via firewire. I have seen in multiple searches that it is possible to do lower thirds but am not sure how. And help appreciated. Thanks.

Watch the tutorial

Watch the "New Features in Version 3.3" tutorial from the ProPresenter Tour link on their home page.

It's about 25% of the way in. Basically use a png with a transparency.

You will get a resonable delay with firewire, so it may look a bit unusal when its on the screen. The other option is to use the decklink card, if you have a mac pro of course.

You can also use some USB video input devices, such as the ProView which is on Renewed Vision's website.

any latency problems? I would assume using USB the transfer would be rather slow?

Firewire and USB will both have latency problems. A special card (Kona or the one mentioned above) is required to minimize latency (which requires a Mac pro).

No matter what you use, you will have latency issues. I personally spoke with a rep from ProPresenter and they said that their software would not do what we needed for video. They said we would still have to use a switcher for video.

*We have a three camera setup so I'm not sure if that was the reason????

a good solution for a 3 camera setup is a tricaster it will do lower thirds and a host of other video tricks
you can make pro presenter an input to the tricaster ivga port and switch back and forth
it will cost you though its about 5k
There is very little latency with tricaster only about 3 or 4 frames not detectable most digital audio mixers now are about that anyway or will at least close that gap to about half having there latency at about 2.5ms I haven't done the math on that but i will guess thats about 2 frames in video world
I dont believe pro presenter was intended to run live cameras
