motorized retractable signage?

Hello,

Anybody know of a retractable sign solution that is motorized and pulls from the top? I'm looking for something similar to a mounted projection screen that completely retracts into it's casing at the top.

Thanks!

Are you just talking about electric projector screens like these? And if so, what exactly is your question?

Any reason why a motorized projection screen wouldn't work?

I'm going to have a small stage with 3-6 band members/instruments directly in front of the mentioned screen...line of sight for a projector is nill. I'm intending to use the screen as an illuminated backdrop and there will only be a few feet between the band and the drop.

It is a Sunday only stage; the rest of the week the space is a gym so I'm looking for a 'permanently temporary' solution. We already have motorized projection screens in the room so I'm looking for similar concept for signage. Rear-projection will not work as minimum set-up/technical knowledge is key. Backlighting the drop using a few well-placed pars or internal lighting will be key. Trade show portable signage came to mind, as did some sort of fabric drop. Nothing I've come across seems to simple, however.

We have "retractable" flat panel monitors in our Sanctuary. Due to aesthetic reasons all of our projection system needed to be able to become invisible. We have TVs as "fill" for some seating where it is hard to see the main screens. These TVs retract in to the ceiling when not in use.

There are a number of manufacturers of these types of devices, some google searches, or better yet, contact your local AV installer and you should be able to find them. Not cheap though, I might add!

SVS might be an option. http://www.svslifts.com/SVS_DisplayCeiling.html

esoteric wrote about using some ultra short throw projectors in a situation like that a few months ago.
