I got pictures, but no sound with WMP 11 or WinDVD.

Interesting. If you try to watch Your Name in their player, there is no sound either, and a message under the player says "Connecting to Audio Stream, please wait..."

I know why you have no sound.

The sound is a seperate audio file.

You click the videos as though they were lyrics to the sound file.

The full MPEG versions (in the "Your Name_FULL" directory of the download) have sound. It plays OK in WMP 9 and Nero Showtime. The files that are individual parts (Vs1, Vs2, etc.) don't.

I just checked, and I don't have the K-lite codec pack installed.

We bought one of the DVD's and have used it once with a choir special. It looks great but is something that the operator really needs to rehearse a little with before using in a service. Freaked our choir out as only the MoM and I knew it was coming. Might be better served as a congregational piece.

BTW, we used it on ProPresenter. Worked great there, although the song we did was Our God Saves, and one of the sections was missing from the flexx files. I took it into FCP and recreated it by cutting up another section.

Flexx

I have actually done this before by actually using the iWorship files and cutting them up in FCP. I'm very interested in taking a look at this Flexx product. I'm downloading the demo right now and will give it a try. With ProPresenter or Pro Video Player this should work quite easily actually.

We have a special worship service we are doing at another church (our associate moved to being a Sr elsewhere) this Sunday afternoon. I might look at the songlist and see if there is anything on the list that we are doing and grab those from WorshipHouse.

Will report results...

This is an older topic and I'm not sure if it is ever referenced but just in case I thought I'd throw in my two cents anyway.

The most effective way to use these files are through a presentation program like MediaShout or ProPresenter. For those of you who are familiar with these programs it runs like a looping movie file broken down into verse, chorus, bridge, extra footage without words in case the worship team goes off into free worship etc. To proceed to the next part of a song you simple click on the section you want and the graphics seemlessly blend (Fade) from one to the other.

Pros: For those of you working with static backgrounds, any motion may be a plus. It can develop an atmosphere of worship and encourage your singers to enter a new level of intimacy with God. It works well with the worship software but don't bother with the basics like Windows Media player or power point etc. Being broken down you can easily flip back and forth between verses and choruses allowing your worship team the freedom to "go with the flow" and not stick to original format of the song. The enclusion of a matching background without words allows you to keep consistancy within the song but without having distracting words on the screen if your worship team likes to "free worhsip". The difference between using Flexx verses a motion background and static words is that usually the words move around as well. If not, there really isn't much difference and the same effect could be used with ProPresenter which allows you to constantly change backgrounds throughout a song if you choose.

Cons: Beside needing specialized software, beware of small text. I noticed that most of the Flexx files (especially the older ones) have text that would be difficult to read, or the flashy background almost overrides and distracts from the words. Watch the demo carefully and imagine you don't know the song and you know have to sing along with it. Text size can be important - especially if you are using older projectors with less lumas (brightness/clarity). Also most are timed to the original song. Which may not be an issue but if your worship team likes to speed or slow things down you may run into problems. For example: we purchased the new Flexx: Revelation. Like it expect the chorus ran faster than what my team was doing so the words were disappearing and changing much faster than we needed them too.

Overall, I think it depends on the individual song as to whether or not I would consider purchasing it. The idea behind it is great. And the few I have purchased, I like. I am hoping they continue to develop this thought, employing the editing technology available, to make the impacting and exciting.

Flexx

Wow, that was an old topic you just replied to . As a bit of update, I have since purchase all of the Flexx DVD's. Right now there are 3 of them that are out there. And now Igniter Media is doing a similar thing with their "Easy Slides" versions.

I actually find that I really like these. The effects that I can do with the text within something like After Effects are much more powerful and moving than what I can do with Pro Presenter. As much as I LOVE Pro Presenter, it doesn't give me some of this type of flexibility within the core software. I can create the video pieces and then play them back in the right timing and sequence, but I cannot create them from within PP3.

Only complaints that I have with the Flexx or Easy Slides are that sometimes the fonts used are just a little too small for us. I couldn't fit large enough screens into our space so the font size needs to be a bit exaggerated for those in the back. Some of the ones like Trading My Sorrows are just far too small a font.

iworship flexx

I've downloaded the sample video. We use ProPresenter on a Macbook Pro and the videos work great. The option of having the complete video, track & video or being able to separate the video into sections could all be very useful.
