Updated version of Presentation Manager Pro

Presentation Manager Professional from Creative Lifestyles has an updated version of their program available. It is version 6.127 and it was released on 06/16/2006. You can get it here:

http://www.presentationmanager.info/downloads.html

You will also need to download and install the license updater program. The license registration format has changed and this utility will convert your old type license into the new format.

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but I did the upgrade last Sunday and everything seemed to work fine. When I came in this morning, I had a train wreck. It took me forever to figure out, but for some reason PMP changed my video settings and wouldn't let me display to the front screens (I kept fighting the hardware.)

Hey Doc,
Sorry about your problem with PM Pro. At the time I posted the info about the upgrade, my system was working properly. I came in later and started my system up with similar results. I ended up reinstalling the program from scratch again. It changed all my presets and also the video. I contacted Creative Lifestyles and they sent me a small program called PMRESET.EXE which allowed me to reinstall the license code for the earlier version. I then ran the LICENSEUPDATER.EXE program and everything is back to normal. I guess we need to drop them a line and explain the problems we had. Their update may have a bug in it somewhere. I know as a programmer myself that sometimes adding new features can sometime break others or cause unforseen problems.

I had to work through sunday School to get everything back running in time for our morning service.
Remind me not to do any more upgrades so close before show time.

I t was actually several days from the upgrade before I noticed the problem. I have been busy on other stuff and haven't had the media computer on. I hope you have everything back to normal now.

Hi, yeah I got everything running again (whew, just in time!) I will drop them a line myself tomorrow and let them know that there is an issue so that they can check it out and send out a fix or another update (or at least a warning.)

Thanks,

Doc

Hey doc,
I also sent Creative Lifestyles an email stating my problem. They responded twice with some helpful info. Here is the last reply they just sent back:

Dear Larry,
I had to add an extra setting for a customer who had a specific video card.
It might be that adding this extra setting upset /offset the other settings
in the workspaces. When I build a new PM version I use new workspaces not
old ones. I guess our testers missed this as they use the new workspaces
generated by our installer. I will ensure that our testers will have access
to old workspaces when testing newer versions so that they can find
potential upgrade issues. I apologise for this problem and steps are being
taken to rectify any future issues of this sort.

Sincerely

Matthew Allen

I think they are concerned about any problems with their program.
Some companies I have bought software from don't even send a reply at all.

Happy Motoring and have a safe and Happy Independance Day
Larry

Hi, yes, they replied to me right away and wanted to know the specifics. I let them know that the settings under the General tab changed (lost my stretched desktop) and some of the settings on my video card went a little strange on me. They seem to really want to stay on top of this and I appreciate that in a company.

Split Screens WORKS!

Well we finally did it! I have split up our screens. We now technically have THREE active screens at one time (if you include the monitor.) I am able to project two different things at the same time on separate screens (which has been something we have wanted to do for some time) and control them from the one program. It is REALLY nice.

Hey Doc,
Great job on the triple screen layout. I am getting more comfortable using PM Pro now that I've got my feet wet over the last month. I did notice the company has another update available, but it looked like it only had a few minor changes in it. It may not be worth updating right now. I updated and still had to change the general settings again. This time I saved my default .wks (workstation) settings to a file other than 'PM' since it gets overwritten with the new update.

They have changed the licensing scheme again also. I guess someone has hacked it and got it spread all over the Internet.

Have a good one, and happy PM Pro-ing.

Yes, I've learned my lesson and have actually saved a few different .wks settings. The one greatest advantage right now of the split screens is the ability to have a confidence screen up and a nice worship video playing for the congregation at the same time as the choir or praise team is singing.
