| My Church My church lost our music minister in May. Then our part time praise team leader left. It has been crazy for me and the rest of the AV crew, being that another staff member who doesn't know anything about the Audio Visual stuff has "taken charge". Anyways, my responsibilities have increased greatly as well as the rest of the team. I feel that this is God's calling on my life, to work in A/V for a church, even if it isn't this one. I've been discouraged lately because we still have no music minister and even with a new 1,000 seat sanctuary being built with all kinds of great new equipment, hiring somebody, even part time, isn't even on the radar. And, to make things more stressful, every time something goes wrong, fingers are pointed at me. They want me to make sure everything runs smooth but decide to tell me about events happening at the church 30 min. before they start and call me in a panic to see if I can come up to the church and make everything work with the flip of a switch. It is very discouraging because it seems that the one thing I love and feel called to do is the one thing that everybody makes it miserable for me. Please pray, not that my church creates a job for me, but that things would just simply run smoother, and that I will stay focused on God and his calling on my life. |

| I have finally gotten to the point where I just lay the blame on the problem. If you give me 30 minutes advance notice you get garbage! Even if it works it's garbage compared to what I could do with a weeks notice. The worship team who can't seem to provide a song list until Friday night (if they even remember) now has to enter the songs into the MS script. I finally got to the point where I refused to do it on Sunday morning (I usually get home from work at 2am Sunday and have to be at church by 8 am). Talk to the pastor - let him know the problem and while you are willing to work to fix it "it's not your problem".

| Praying for you. I eventually became happily employed as a part-time AV staff member of a church of a different denomination than my own. Answers may not be easy, in my situation my husband continues to serve through our home church which was filled with strife and conflict for me as a committed media volunteer. We remained without a Minister of Music for five years. Answers may not match your expectations but, with time, I trust that God will reward patience and a positive servant's attitude. And... never discount the value of good communication skills which could help with awareness that more advance notice is needed.
