Insert slides retaining background.

I make a file of the sermon when I receive the sermon notes via email on Friday. I then insert the sermon into the worship service file on Sunday morning. The background changes to the default background for the worship service file. Is there a way to insert slides while maintaining their original backgrounds? I've found some workarounds, but would sure appreciate finding out how to make this work. Thanks.

Since you mentioned this being covered earlier I did a search and found Powerpoint XP Insert slides from file problem . It looks like I'm stuck since I'm using PPT2000. XP does have a way to do this. At least now I'll quit trying to find out how to make it work on 2000. Thanks for the tip on the search, Tim.

Re: Insert slides retaining background

You didn't mention which version of Powerpoint you are using. I don't have it at work so I can't confirm how to do it, but with Powerpoint XP, when you add slides from file, there is a check box that allows you to keep the slide as it is when you bring it in. Maybe someone who has access to XP can share this information. If not, I can post something over the weekend when I get back home to XP. I looked in PP2K, but didn't see the same functions for this.

The checkbox dj mentioned is to maintain original source formatting.... if that is checked during import, the background should come along w/ the slide.

It sounds like the solution is in having PPT XP on our service computer. I know it has Windows XP, but I'm not sure what version of PPT. I'll be checking Sunday morning for sure. Thanks for your help!

Simple answer

Just copy the background files to the computer your useing to show the service. PowerPoint will then be able to use the backgrounds you were sent with the service presentation.

You have to do the same, copy the exact file, when useing any flash macros or AVI files within your presentation. We make our service files by date they are to be used and then copy to that folder all files used to make the presentation. When we transport the presentation between our tech team members it then has everything needed to run the presentation for that Sunday.

Hope this helps.

Phyllis,
That's a great idea. I usually burn a CD of the sermon to take to church and it will be easy to copy the background files to the cd. Then it won't take long to apply the background to the slides.

Hi,
I also keep a copy of our services and to save time and trouble I copy the orig date folder with all the imput files to a CD which then is just loged and put in our file library. This way we can also use this info to see how far we really have come in developing our visual service. I make a b/w printout of each presentation and keep those in a notebook so anyone can flip through there and see what songs or reading we did for the last or any specail service as well as the regular ones. I'm working on a cross indexing of all the material we have on hand for any one topic. LOL its a long haul job but after I train the other 7 people on the tech team the upkeep should be fairly easy.

I am also puting all our backgrounds, PowerPoint presentations without backgrounds(songs mostly) , and any other info onto CD and createing a resource library for our church tech team. These can be used now and in the future. I also make video clips of church events that I add to CD and pre-service presentations.

I'm useing anything I can get my hands on to inform people that God is in control and we are his hands at work. I love what I'm doing.

Phyllis
