How to copy custom animations?

I did a quick search for this topic and it didn't some up which surprises me. Is there any way to assign custom animations to text and then copy those animations to other text? Or at the very least set a default animation?

I basically copy and paste an outline to a single slide in a presentation, parcel the text out to separate slides, make them pretty and then do the animations. The animations take forever and I'm doing the exact same animation to all the text: a quick fade started on a click.

Why oh why isn't there a paintbrush option for animations? Is there something I'm missing? It seems like such an obvious need.

I should probably say that I rarely use placeholders. They irritate me to no end. I just use textboxes but if using placeholders would solve this problem I might give them a second try.

I'd try using slide masters. I'm not sure if they are supported or not in the way you want to use them, but my sense is that if there is a way to 'template' the animation, then it would be through that function. The only other way I could think to do it would be do actually duplicate the whole slide instead of just the text itself.

Knowing how to set-up your slide masters can save a lot of time once you embrace the concept, especially when you need to create several similar slides.

Here's how i do this... it's easier for me, YMMV....
I create the first slide completely... including formatting and animations. Then I select the slide in slide sorter view and hit CTRL-D to create duplicates of the same slide for however many I need. Then I select the second slide and either type or paste the text for that slide, and continue with the remaining slides. The formatting and animations remain the same for the duplicates slides. Hope that's clear.
