| Help with basic projector/computer isssue This may seem too basic, but how do I get what displays on my screen to be different from what is on my computer screen? We are using powerpoint for worship, but everyone sees us switching from one thing to the next. Is this an issue with how we have the projector connected to the computer or what? Help! |

| First, you need to have your display extended to the second monitor (the projector), not cloned. Setting that depends on your version of Windows (or OS X). Then, in Powerpoint, go to Slide Show on the menubar, select Set up Slide show and select Show Slide Show on 2nd Monitor. That's for PPT 2007. Others may vary slightly. You can also play with Presenters View on that screen and see if that's useful. Back when I tried to play with it several years ago, it wasn't stable enough, so I've just ignored and and we've pretty much moved on from powerpoint since then.

| I'm not real familiar with Vista. If you upgrade to Windows 7, you just have to press WindowsKey-P to set the projector mode. You need to get to the Display Properties. In XP, I right click on the desktop and select Properties. In Windows 7, I type "display properties" into the search window. You may have to dig around in Vista a bit to find them. Once in display properties, go to the settings tab, click on monitor icon 2, then click the check box by "Extend my Windows desktop to this monitor". Click OK and you should be done. If, for some reason, the projector is connected to 1 and the monitor to 2, then you can either switch the cables in back, or click on monitor icon 2 and click the check box by "Use this device as the promary monitor". By default, the 2nd monitor is logically to the right of the 1st monitor, so you can drag thing from the 1st monitor off the right side of the screen and have them show up on the second. This can be handy for showing a video or web site or such.
