How to start creating flash content/GIFs animated stuff for PowerPoint?

Hi I do announcements for my church using PowerPoint but I need help with more ideas to incorporate to the announcements to keep it interesting and fresh.

My announcements are usually played after worship, before sermons and I really wonder where to start getting stuff like flash content for my slides.

Anyone has other creative ideas for announcements?

Check out www.animoto.com. They do free accounts for non-profits. You could upload your pics and video and get a pretty cool announcement video... here is one I did a while back.....

I started creating my own animated GIFs using shareware programs such as Swirls. I also purchased several programs, but they are time consuming and somewhat difficult.
