Text over video!

For all those who would like to get worship software but the church thinks it's a waste to only use one program for one thing, wait for Office 2010. The whole suite should be a bit more affordable for 5-6 usable programs. But finally you can run text over video without a 3rd party plugin. Beta is out now (has been) and the release date is sometime in June. More information is a quick internet search away and there's a video to watch here too.

Interesting. Do you have a specific page that discusses text over live video? I didn't see anything on those two pages you mentioned.

PowerPoint only does one thing...

Peter, I mentioned a google search. Another link (I'm not looking into it too greatly, I'm happy with '07 and Easyworship). The office suite does more than one thing... so I'm not just mentioning PowerPoint singularly when I said that. Thanks for helping me clarify a bit

Oh, I get it. They finally figured out how to get video to play *within* PowerPoint, so you can arrange your video objects in the z-order with your other objects. (In previous PPT versions, video was always handled outside of PowerPoint, which forced the video to the top layer.)

So now you can finally use a looping video as a background and place text over it. (Kind of late to the game aren't they?)

When I first read your post, I incorrectly thought you were saying you could place text over LIVE video. THAT would have REALLY impressed me!

I've played a bit with PP 2010 and while it will place text over video, it will not play the video across slides... so, you either need to put all the lyrics on one slide and animate them in and out (hard to work on them when the worship leader makes changes during rehearsal!), or have the video start over on each slide. I actually got on a Microsoft forum and got confirmation from Microsoft that video won't play across slides with text in front. I asked if they would consider adding that before the final release, but haven't hear back yet.

Z-ordering can really be confusing.

I have a question. Our church currently uses an old pc that has office 2002 and old programs. We are wanting to upgrade to new software and possibly even purchase a new computer or lap top. We would love to have microsoft office 2010 and windows 7, but we are not sure that on our current computer either will work.

In order for us to purchase a new computer, we need to be sure that the above mentioned programs wont work. Also, we are wondering if anyone knows about song display software compatability. We were wondering about Songbase specifically since that is what we currently are using. Also, if there is a better system for displaying songs with great backgrounds and easy to use and read, we would love any help. Thanks.

Microsoft has a Windows 7 upgrade advisor that you can run and see how well (and if) your hardware will run Windows 7.

And here are the SongBase minimum requirements.

I'm not involved in visual ministry at this point but if anyone has heard of success or have used this yet, let us know! http://www.exaltnow.com/

Not sure what my future church would be equipped with and it's just good general knowledge anyway to know what we can do with the little things at our disposal.
