Open Office Impress

Anybody use Impress instead of Powerpoint? Our church bought a new laptop with Vista and I installed Open Office. I can't, for some reason, get it to run in presenter view. I can get it to show a slide on the projector, but then I can't advance the slides. I think I'm just plain stupid, sometimes. Either that or senile. Thanks in advance for any help.

Well you don't look old enough for senile so I'm going to go with stupid. That would make two of us since I don't have an answer either.
Are you extending your screen for presenter view or cloneing it?
Are you able to go daul screen with other programs?
Hopefully someone more familiar with open office will be checking in soon.

open Impress, Click on "Slide Show," then in the drop down menu click on Slide show settings... check the box next to Navigator visible. That still isn't really much of a presenter view like PPT has, but it does provide some offscreen controls.

It might be cheaper to buy a copy of Office then just powerpoint if you need any of the other programs (like Word, Publisher, Excel, Access) I've found that the cost of buying two programs seperately is usually greater then buying the Suite with most software.

Have you thought of taking off the big red nose?
It won't make you any smarter, but you might not feel as stupid.

If you're buying it for your church make sure to get Non-profit pricing.

You can burn the presentation to Video or DVD,and then play it on video or dvd player or TV set.Through this way, even if you don't have projector, powerpoint or computer, you can show your presentation to the public.Try Moyea PPT to DVD Burner,it is well compatible with ppt 2007&Vista.Google search for"Moyea PPT to DVD Burner",and you will find the tool. May it helps you.

Newegg also has some good prices on retail editions of Office. They're not quite as cheap as nonprofit pricing, but double check the strings attached.

I am using some open office stuff and we like it. It takes a little getting use too. Its not exactly like MS but it work really well for free. Did you get your problem fixed? You may have the same problem with Power point.

Our church is using open office impress and we do not like it. The picture backgrounds keep switching on us. Microsoft Powerpoint 2007 is much better as far as backgrounds.
